Meet the Team

Michelle

From the age I knew that therapists exist, I wanted to be one. And then my bubble burst when I was told my math wasn’t strong enough to study psychology. I decided to persue other career paths that help and develop people, including human resources and working in community sector roles. While there were aspects of these jobs I enjoyed, the desire to be a therapist persisted. I knew I needed to find a way to do it. This led me to find Counselling as a study pathway. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. I completed a Bachelor and Diploma of Counselling and a Graduate Diploma in Grief and Loss Counselling.

In 2017, my dream actualised in the very place it was born; my home town Armidale. I started in my first therapist role as an associate of Life Connect Counselling. I was in my element. Two years later the owner announced she had decided to close the business. As she broke this news a little blue wren came and sat on a fence in my eye line. He told me what I had to do. I opened Blue Wren Therapy at the start of 2020. Then migrated north to Townsville in January 2023. During this time I have worked my way up to being registered Level 4 Counsellor and Counselling Supervisor with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA).

My job is to help you get unstuck from unhealthy patterns that hold you back. We do this through a process of self-discovery and personal growth. I believe when you improve the relationship you have with yourself, you enhance your relationships with others. It is this combination; a healthy relationship with self and others that leads to a fulfilling life. This is my approach to therapy. I combine counselling, coaching and relationship therapy approaches to help you discover your authentic self, actualise your goals and create healthy relationships.

Want to get to know me better before you commit? My blog is a great place to get a feel for if I’m the right fit for you. You can read it here.

Sasha

Unlike Michelle, Sasha never dreamed one day she would become a Therapy Assistant. She stumbled into the role after meeting Michelle. It turns out she is perfect at it. She is an inspiration having overcome adversity herself. Despite a rough start to life, she has a calm and joyful nature. She loves welcoming clients and receiving pats and cuddles from willing clients. Her uncanny ability to put smiles on clients faces has made her the highlight of therapy for many.

Sasha works Monday – Thursday. If you have allergies or concerns about Sasha, you can book a Friday appointment, choose another modality (online or Walk and Talk) or get in touch to discuss further.
