Blue Wren Therapy

Welcome to
Blue Wren Therapy

We all experience challenging times in our lives. Times when we feel stuck and overwhelmed with feelings of inadequacy, hopelessness, fear, stress, anger, or sadness (just to name a few). These feelings are often triggered by conflict, loss, or change, or can be a sign that change is needed.

The wren is said to appear to guide you through tough times.

Wrens remind us to adapt to change and seek out greater experience and meaning in life. Blue Wren Therapy endeavours to be the wren that supports, inspires, and motivates you to work through these challenges and create the changes you want to see.

Blue Wren Therapy is an inclusive practice that welcomes and embraces diversity.

Our Townsville counselling room is designed to be relaxed, comfortable, and private.

Our services include individual and relationship therapy, as well as ACA clinical supervision.

All services are available in person in Townsville, online, or by phone. New clients are welcome without referral.

I am deeply curious about human behaviour, personal growth, and relationships. This curiosity has led me to work in human resources, community services, and now as an individual and relationship therapist, counselling supervisor and to develop the Unstuck Card Deck and method.

I have worked in private practice since 2017, starting as an associate of Life Connect Counselling before spreading my wings and creating Blue Wren Therapy in early 2020. Blue Wren Therapy began in my hometown of Armidale and then migrated north to Townsville in 2023.

I help people get unstuck from unhealthy situations, patterns, or relationships. If you are looking for a down-to-earth, non-clinical, individualised approach to counselling, I (and my dog, Sasha) could be the therapy team for you. I have adopted my own approach call the Unstuck Method that has been developed from 1000’s of hours of clinical work and professional development.

Using this method, I work with individuals and couples to build healthier patterns and connections. Together, we use curiosity and intuition to better understand your “stuck-ness,” then engage hope to move you toward your desired outcomes. I enjoy working with a diverse range of people and issues. However, I only work with clients who are ready and willing to activate change.

This includes clients in couples’ therapy. Hundreds of hours of relationship therapy have taught me this: relationship therapy is not for couples in  crisis. In my experience, it is most effective for couples who are committed to each other and want to understand how they can each contribute to creating positive change. Couples in crisis are often too dysregulated and conflicted to be curious. Individual therapy is usually more effective during a crisis period.

My supervision services include ACA-approved clinical support as well as personal and professional development. I particularly enjoy supporting new counsellors and private practitioners as they discover and develop their counselling identity and grow as practitioners and business owners.

Working out how to help people get unstuck is not just my profession, it is my passion. I am an avid consumer of all things self-help and personal growth-related, and I love sharing what I have learnt over a lifetime of curiosity. That is why I created Unstuck, a self help card deck designed to help you get curious, tap into your intuition, and gain clarity on how to move forward. Find out more.

I also write a blog to share insights I gain through resources, work, and life experiences. You can read it here.

Sasha joined the team at the start of 2024 and has quickly gathered a fan base. She is no stranger to change and adversity. Despite her challenges, Sasha has a calm, joyful, and adaptable nature. She loves welcoming clients and receiving pats, cuddles, and adoring attention. Her uncanny ability to bring smiles has made her the highlight of counselling for many.

Sasha works with me in the Townsville office. If you have concerns about Sasha, you are welcome to choose another modality (online or phone) or contact me to discuss further.
