Meet the Team
Michelle
- Australian Counselling Association Counsellor and Supervisor (Level 4)
- Diploma of Counselling (2015)
- Graduate Diploma in Grief and Loss Counselling (2017)
- Bachelor of Counselling (2019)
I am deeply curious about human behaviour, personal growth, and relationships. This curiosity has led me to work in human resources, community services, and now as an individual and relationship therapist and counselling supervisor. I have worked in private practice since 2017, starting as an associate of Life Connect Counselling before spreading my wings and creating Blue Wren Therapy at the start of 2020. Blue Wren Therapy originated in my hometown Armidale and then migrated north to Townsville in 2023.
I help you get unstuck. Unstuck from unhealthy situations, patterns, or relationships. If you are looking for a down-to-earth, non-clinical, individualised approach to counselling, I (and my dog Sasha) could be the therapy team for you. I work with both individuals and couples to build healthier patterns and connections. I listen to your story, in your voice, and the competencies and experiences you bring to therapy. We then work as a team, employing curiosity to understand what is getting in your way and how you can utilise your strengths to activate change.
When working with couples, I endeavour to understand the unique characteristics of your relationship as well as your individual needs and perspectives. A safe and supportive space is created for you to explore your issues and relationship strengths. We then work together to form healthier relational patterns and behaviours, creating stronger, more meaningful connections.
My supervision services include ACA-approved clinical support as well as personal and professional development. I have a particular interest in supporting new counsellors and private practitioners as they discover and develop their counselling identity and grow as practitioners and business owners.
As a self-professed personal development nerd, I am an avid consumer of all things self-help and personal growth-related. I write a blog to share some of the insights I gain through resources, work, and life experiences. You can read it here.

She loves welcoming clients and receiving pats, cuddles and adoring attention. Her uncanny ability to put smiles on faces has made her the highlight of counselling for many.
Sasha works with Michelle in the Townsville office. If you have concerns about Sasha, you can choose another modality (online or Walk and Talk) or get in touch to discuss further.

I understand that life’s difficulties, particularly those involving trauma and personal struggles, can profoundly affect your well-being and sense of direction. My role is to support you through these difficulties, helping you heal and rediscover your path forward. I am an experienced individual counsellor and life coach specialising in trauma.
I enjoy supporting a diverse range of clients who are navigating all sorts of challenges and changes. My experience includes working with carers, veterans and people who have sustained injuries helping them to manage stress, adapt to change and achieve personal and professional goals.
In trauma counselling, I utilise a sensitive and informed approach to help you process and work through past experiences that may be affecting your present life. By creating a safe and supportive environment, I aim to empower you to face and heal from trauma, allowing you to reclaim your sense of self and live more fully in the present.
For individual counselling, my focus is on fostering self-discovery and personal growth. I employ a humanistic approach that emphasizes your strengths, authenticity, and unique life path. Whether you’re dealing with feelings of being stuck, navigating relationships, or seeking to enhance your self-awareness, my goal is to help you gain clarity and develop strategies for a more fulfilling life.
My integrative practice combines trauma-informed care with techniques such as mindfulness, somatic therapies, creative arts, and acceptance and commitment therapies. This diverse toolkit allows us to tailor our work to your specific needs, addressing both external pressures and internalized beliefs. I believe in creating a supportive and non-judgmental space where you can explore your true self, uncover your unique path, and find meaningful ways to move forward.
